Continuing in the rich tradition of South Bay Ballet and Lauridsen Ballet Centre, founded in 1978, Ballet California is a pre-professional ballet company and a leader on the West Coast. Its mission is to be the nation’s leading pre-professional ballet company, providing unparalleled training to youth and performances that inspire and enrich the community. The annual season includes The Nutcracker, the eclectic Bravo! concert, Storybook Ballet, and the Benefactors’ Concert, with the Benefactors’ Concert hosted at a landmark studio. Training at Ballet California instills self-discipline, teamwork, perseverance, respect, self-confidence, and dedication to excellence. The company has proven success in consistently placing dancers in professional contracts, earning it the respect of the international ballet community and a legacy of creating future leaders in the arts. Each performance offers the community an opportunity to engage in the arts and demonstrate the value of dance, where artistry, athleticism, and transformation reside. Misty Copeland has described her training with Diane Lauridsen as invaluable and credits Lauridsen Ballet Centre with guiding her training and career, including her work as a dancer with American Ballet Theatre.
