About
The Arts Education Program offers classes in dance, drama, music, literary arts, visual arts, ceramics, and fused glass. It also includes movement and art classes designed for active adults ages 50 and up. Classes take place in specialized studios and labs as part of a larger arts education and exhibitions program.

• Schedule: Arts Education & Exhibitions Programs run Monday–Thursday 10 AM–6 PM, Friday 10 AM–5 PM, and Saturday 10 AM–2 PM
The Arts Education Program is taught by accomplished instructors in a specialized facility. It is part of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, a municipal interdisciplinary arts center owned and operated by the City of Tracy and managed by the Cultural Arts Division in the City Manager’s Office. The program offers tiered classes in dance, drama, music, literary arts, and visual arts and runs year-round courses. The Center includes dedicated studio classrooms in visual arts, a college-level ceramics and fused-glass lab, a dance studio, a multi-purpose children’s studio, and four music studios with a resident baby grand piano, a percussion lab, a digital recording workstation, and space for private instruction in voice and numerous instruments. The Arts Education Program has taught over 24,000 students since opening in 2007.
The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts has been honored with awards from The California Heritage Council and the California Preservation Foundation and has been acknowledged in the State Legislature and U.S. Congress. It was recognized nationally in 2010 as one of fifty unique and important cultural redevelopment projects studied. The Center is described as a municipal interdisciplinary arts center offering arts education, exhibitions, performances, and rentals in a single complex, in a 37,000+ square foot facility hosting over 50,000 patrons a year, with no other facility in the region able to offer the same set of creative resources to children, teens, and adults.
The Arts Education Program is supported by The Grand Foundation, a private fundraising and community partner that provides annual underwriting for programming and technical support and contributes to an endowment fund. The Center supports the advocacy and programming of the California Arts Council, Californians for the Arts, and the Creative Work Fund, and is associated with community organizations including Tracy Art League, Tracy Camera Club, Tracy Community Band, Tracy Theater Arts Collaborative, and Children’s Dance Theatre.
The Arts Education Program’s leadership and support team includes Valerie Pavlakis, Arts Education Program Coordinator; Robert Tombari, Cultural Arts Division Manager; Grace Credo, Administrative Technician; Amanda Trask, Cultural Arts Marketing Coordinator; Shaleila Loera, Box Office Coordinator; Argelia Cardenas, Box Office Assistant; Randy Benitez, Cultural Arts Technical Supervisor; and David Bermillo, Cultural Arts Technical Coordinator.
