About
Truckee AYSO offers youth soccer programs that include Fall and Spring programs, summer soccer camps, coach training, and referee training. The program includes a Truckee Youth Referee Program and uses an Age Chart with Age Division changes for 2026. Truckee AYSO follows six AYSO philosophies: Everyone Plays™, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development.
• Ages: 4–15 years old
• Schedule: Coach training in 2026 includes 6U, 7/8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U sessions on specific dates in June, July, and August, with 14U coach training offered as a 2-day course.
Truckee AYSO is Region 740 of the national American Youth Soccer Organization, which was founded in 1964, and Truckee AYSO Region 740 was chartered in 1980. Truckee AYSO is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization open to all 4 to 15 year-old children, with volunteers organizing and delivering soccer to nearly 800 players each year, including more than 150 coaches, referees, and support volunteers. The program’s vision is children’s lives enriched through soccer, and its mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on the AYSO philosophies. AYSO’s coach training program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE).
Each volunteer is required to take a short in-person or online training session called Safe Haven™. Kids Zone™ is a program that includes a parent commitment to positive, encouraging behavior when watching games. All coaches must submit a one-time fingerprint scan, pass a yearly background check with Sterling, attend coach orientation, complete age-specific AYSO certified training, and complete online safety trainings including Concussion Awareness, heart attack awareness, Safe Haven certification, and Safesport, and must take “Summary of the Laws of the Game” online for certain age groups. Fourteen-and-under (14U) coach training at the Intermediate level is equivalent to a USSF D license, and completion of Intermediate coach training qualifies a coach as a 14U coach and is necessary for tournaments such as Cookies and AllStars; coaches who complete Intermediate training become eligible to receive a Truckee AYSO Adidas warm up jacket.
Truckee AYSO provides field status information via TDRPD Field Status. If a player or registered adult volunteer becomes injured during a scheduled practice, game, or training, the injury must be reported immediately to the Safety Director using the Incident Report Form.
