About

Southern California Vipassana Center Teenagers' and Children's Courses are part of a set of courses in Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. The technique of Vipassana Meditation at this center is taught in ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method and practice it. Courses for young people at this center include specific Teenagers' and Children's Courses.

• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Price: There are no charges for the courses - not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from people who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the opportunity to also benefit.

Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is described by the center as one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation and was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, an Art of Living. Courses in this tradition are given at numerous meditation centers and at non-center course locations at rented sites, and a special 10-day Vipassana course for business executives and government officials is held periodically at several centers around the world. Vipassana Meditation courses in this tradition are also being taught in prisons. Registration for all courses opens at 7:00am Pacific Time, and students may apply to sit only one 10-day course at a time, even if another course is in a different state or in Canada or is waitlisted. Applications submitted via cell phone may not go through, and a follow-up email is recommended. All Covid-19 entry requirements have been lifted and masking is optional, but people are asked to wear a mask when traveling via public transport or in public places before coming to the course, to notify the center if they feel sick and cannot attend, and they may be asked to leave during a course if they display concerning symptoms.
