The program is led by Professor Raul Quintero, owner and head instructor, who is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt with over 15 years of coaching experience, a Black Belt earned in December 2015 under Master Claudio França Pires, and competition experience at tournaments including the U.S. Open, Pan-Ams, Master World’s, American Nationals, American Cup, and All-Star tournaments, along with a 3–1 MMA record and an MMA debut win in 2015 by rear naked choke. The gym’s mission states that it aims to inspire and empower individuals of all ages and stages of life through teachings that foster growth and resilience, and to integrate professional rehabilitative health care services with strength fitness classes, martial arts, and holistic practices in a welcoming space. Testimonials describe the school as having “only good vibes,” as welcoming students with “open arms,” and as a place where children and adults are challenged and guided toward martial arts mastery, and they highlight one-on-one, hour-long physical therapy sessions with Dr. Mesa and her approach to focusing on what patients can do.
