About
West Covina Youth Soccer offers recreational soccer and a club soccer program. The recreational program is open to all new and experienced players, and the club program requires tryouts and selection. Divisions are set up as co-ed for U5–U6, U8–U12, and U14–U18, and teams are formed the week registration closes using player ratings to create balanced teams.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Registration for spring begins February 7 at 10am online; practices are typically 1–2 times a week and typically do not start earlier than 5:30pm, with games on weekends and some weekday games depending on division.
• Price: ONLINE FEES: $12.00 Cal South Fee plus a processing fee for all credit card transactions; $170 first child online, $160 second child online (must be siblings), $150 third+ child online (must be siblings). Spring registration: 1 child $170; 2 children $330; 3 children $480; 4 children $630; 5 children $780; 6 children $930, plus a $12.00 Cal South Fee and a processing fee for all credit card payments.
All divisions are currently full, and registration is available for the waitlist, with no charge unless there is an opening in the child’s division. Players must be born between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2021, and 2007 players can be registered if still in high school. New players must upload a birth certificate when registering, and all registration is done online. Registration fees include a uniform with socks, jersey, and shorts, an end-of-season trophy or medal, pictures, and all referee fees. Special requests must be written in the registration under special comments and emailed to the division registrar the same day, and accommodations are not guaranteed. All coaches are allowed one assistant coach and one buddy, and outlined dates are subject to change based on field availability. The program notes an emphasis on proper hydration to help eliminate fatigue and injuries.
For equipment, families are asked to bring cleats, shin guards, the correct ball size (size 3 for U5–U8, size 4 for U10–U12, size 5 for U14–U18), and water to the first practice. For practices, children should wear comfortable clothing, preferably no denim, with active wear preferred. At the time of registration, families need to provide online fees, a birth certificate if the player is new or not yet uploaded, and a current photo of the child. U5–U12 teams typically practice at the Soccer Complex, and U14–U18 teams will practice at Merced Elementary, with some U14 and U18 games played at Edgewood High School. If coaches have multiple teams, they may request practice at a neutral location outside of the main sites. Denise Cornejo serves as registrar for birth years 2017–2021 and can be contacted at [email protected], and Erika Saucedo serves as registrar for birth years 2016–2007 and can be contacted at [email protected].
