The Center for Early Education began as one of the first preschool programs in Los Angeles in 1939 and is a socio-economically and culturally diverse independent school for children from toddlers through grade six. Its mission states that it strives to graduate students who are joyful, resilient, lifelong learners and that it combines a nurturing, inclusive learning environment with an increasingly challenging academic program that addresses the developmental needs of each child. Each child at The Center participates in acts of service each year.
Testimonials about Summer at The Center describe the camps as “exciting, fun, challenging, and creative” and say that children “love it so much and don't want to leave” and have “fun and diverse learning experiences.” Another testimonial notes that a child wrote a thank-you note for being signed up for school camp and that “the crew rocked it,” and one states that teachers brought both passion and knowledge of their subjects to the program.
