West Sacramento Soccer Club was founded in 1973 as a 4-H community program, later developed into East Yolo Soccer Club, and changed its name to West Sacramento Soccer Club in the mid-1990s. It is a registered non-profit, community-based youth soccer organization. The club lists core values of Accountability, Dedication, Integrity, Passion, and Respect. West Sacramento Soccer Club states a mission of preparing players technically, tactically, physically, and psycho-socially to compete at the highest possible playing level, while also focusing on communication, teamwork, time management, responsibility, discipline, hard work, and respect for themselves, opposing players, officials, operational staff, and the game, and on offering low-cost playing opportunities and embracing the diversity of the club and community.
