West Sacramento Soccer Club was founded in 1973 as a 4-H community program and later developed into East Yolo Soccer Club before changing its name to West Sacramento Soccer Club in the mid-1990s. The club is a registered non-profit, community-based youth soccer organization. Its mission states that it is dedicated to the development and preparation of players technically, tactically, physically, and psycho-socially to compete at the highest possible playing level. The mission also states a commitment to developing and enhancing communication, teamwork, time management, responsibility, discipline, hard work, and respect for players themselves, opposing players, officials, operational staff, and the game as a whole, while offering low-cost playing opportunities and embracing the diversity of the club and community.
