About

Limalama No-Ka-Oi teaches a blend of martial arts that includes self-defense skills, kicking, punching, striking, take-downs, weapons, and kickboxing. Students are taught this unique blend of self-defense skills along with respect, self-discipline, and dedication. The program is known for a practical set of skills that are described as true self-defense rather than just for show.

Limalama, the Original No-Ka-Oi, was founded with the help of Grandmaster Richard Nuñez in 1965. The name Limalama means “hand of wisdom” in Polynesian and is described as being renowned for its unique philosophy and martial arts approach. Leadership for Limalama No-Ka-Oi includes Senior Grandmaster Richard Nuñez, Master Jesus Galindo, Master Martin Alcala, Master Gil Torres, and Grandmaster Fabricio Gomez.

The mission statement for Limalama No-Ka-Oi says that students are taught a unique blend of self-defense skills, as well as respect, self-discipline, and dedication. Limalama No-Ka-Oi is described as a street fight with no rules or regulations. The program encourages families to discover the expansive No-Ka-Oi family by staying connected with schools worldwide.

One testimonial states, “I came in looking for a martial arts studio and found a family. We are always pushing each other to be the best we can be.” Another testimonial says, “No-Ka-Oi is Ohana first, Richard made it clear that we are all family. We love and trust one another, with his famous quote of - we don’t lie, we don’t cheat, and we don’t steal. He also wanted us to understand that Limalama No-Ka-Oi is a street fight, there are no rules or regulations. So for me the Original No-Ka-Oi is a way of life.”
