(Rethought Opportunities for Adaptive Recreation) Program. The program also includes activities such as ROAR Family Yoga Sessions, Woodlake Tiger Sharks Recreational Swim Season, Woodlake Youth Football and Cheer, Woodlake Youth Ballers basketball training, Woodlake Youth Wrestling Club programs, Youth Introduction to Dance Class Series, Ballet Folklorico Del Lago, Woodlake Run Club, Zumba Fitness classes, Tai Chi classes, a yoga and meditation class, Bailoterapia Exercise Class, and Adult Basketball Open Gym nights.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal youth sports run throughout the year, including spring baseball and softball (April–May), summer flag football (June–July), fall soccer (September–late October or early November), winter basketball (January–March), and a recreational swim season from April–July; additional activities meet on specific weekdays, evenings, and every-other Saturday depending on the class or club
The community of Woodlake was founded in 1912, and Woodlake’s tax measures Measure R and Measure S made it possible for the City to begin a number of new recreation programs. The City offers a new R.O.A.R. Program that uses a one-time registration form to qualify for all ROAR events in 2026 and provides adaptive sports and recreation programs for youth and adults with special needs. The Woodlake Run Club is a group of active locals that meets to run or walk together, and Family HealthCare Network enables community members to enjoy a free Bailoterapia Exercise Class, which is for all ages and abilities. Zumba Fitness classes include elements of dance and aerobic movements and are described as “not just a dance class, it's a party,” and participants are reminded not to forget water and a sweat towel.
Leadership and instruction across the programs include Jennifer at the City of Woodlake for sports and recreation programs, Instructor Rose for ROAR Family Yoga Sessions, Veronica Benavides for Zumba Fitness classes, Lotella Hale for Youth Dance Classes, Micaela Macareno as owner and instructor of Ballet Folklorico Del Lago, Adriana Paniagua for the Bailoterapia Exercise Class, and Alex Rodriguez as the contact for Woodlake Youth Ballers. Tai Chi classes are offered by Certified Tai Chi instructor Al George, and these classes are recognized for success in areas of arthritis, fall prevention, and balance and are adapted to meet the needs of an older, sedentary population. The Woodlake Youth Wrestling Club season typically runs October to February, with sessions lasting 60–90 minutes. This City is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
