Art Steps

Art Steps offers year-round visual arts classes where students work step-by-step on drawing, painting, clay sculpture, and paper sculpture. Classes use a range of media such as pastel, color pencil, marker, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and more. Camps and workshops add lessons in art history and figure drawing to the classical drawing and painting curriculum.

Over 1000 students attend Art Steps classes each week. The program has mentored more than 88,000 young artists in classes and camps over over 25 years. Its curriculum was named one of the top five art programs nationwide with a Disney Motif award. Classes are described as relaxed and respectful, with inspirational, kind, and caring teachers who work one-on-one and hands-on with each student, building one skill upon another from simple to more sophisticated. The program includes an individualized, year-round structure with classes just for kids, a foundational drawing program that leads into teen and adult classes, and instruction that leads students to become highly skilled at painting in oil. A free introductory class is available.
