Flatirons Dance Academy

Flatirons Dance Academy offers Kinder Dancers for ages 3-6, a 45-minute class that combines ballet, jazz, and tumbling, with basic listening skills and following directions emphasized. It also offers ballet with barre exercises, center-floor work, and across-the-floor combinations, along with lyrical/contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and break dancing, poms and cheerleading, recreational classes, and a competitive dance program.

Programs

• Kinder Dancers — 3-6 years of age · 45 minute class combining ballet, jazz and tumbling. Basic listening skills and following directions are emphasized.
• Ballet — Class includes barre exercises, center-floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. Curriculum uses French, Vagonova, and Cecchetti methods.
• Lyrical / Contemporary — Students explore partnering and weight-sharing exercises combined with basic techniques and skills from ballet, jazz, and modern.
• Jazz — Focuses on proper dance techniques such as isolations, performance quality, and complex rhythms and patterns.
• Hip-Hop & Break Dancing — Students learn breaking, locking, and popping along to age-appropriate hip-hop music.
• Poms & Cheerleading — Students learn team-style dance skills including leaps, turns, kicks, splits, and jumps.
• Recreational Classes
• Competitive Dance Program — 4-18 · Program includes Competition Team, Protégé Program, Company, and The Crew.
• Competition Team — Designed for dancers who would like to compete with a team and perform two group competition dances during the season.
• Protégé Program — 4-7 · Designed for young dancers ready to begin training in a focused competitive environment and serves as a direct pathway into the Company program.
• Company — Advanced, pre-professional training program.
• The Crew — For dancers looking to compete while still dancing with their high school poms team.

• General schedule: Classes run from September 8 through May 8. All registration runs September through May. Classes begin the week of September 8th and run through the beginning of May.
