• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: One-hour riding lessons offered year-round; three-day Spring Break Horse Pop-Up Camp and three-day Beginner and Continuation Summer Camps typically run 10am–3pm; Advanced Riding Camps (Dressage and Arena Trail) are three-day sessions on specific July and August dates; public rides with privately owned horses are available by appointment in two-hour windows between 11am–5pm.
• Price: One-hour riding lessons are $75 per student; Spring Break Horse Pop-Up Camp and each three-day Beginner and Continuation Summer Camp are $375 per camper; Advanced Riding Camps (Dressage and Arena Trail) are $425 per camper per date; public rides are $40 per horse per two-hour window; a $75 nonrefundable deposit is required for listed camps and is applied to the total cost, with no refunds or discounts for partial camps and loss of deposit if changing camp dates after sign-up.
Beginner Camps are designed for the beginner equestrian, ages 7 and up, with one day spent on the ground focusing on safety and daily horse management and two days focusing on equine communications and connections through learning how to ride. Each morning of camp includes group riding, with afternoons focused on unmounted equine activities. Continuation Camp is structured for individuals who have had previous camp experience and continues learning and training from previous camps, and Riding Camp is for individuals who have completed the Beginner and Continuation Camps. Advanced Riding Camps ride each day with a specific focus on either dressage or arena trail obstacles, depending on the camp dates.
The program teaches all riding levels for ages 9 and up in all-year-round semi-private lessons, with 1–3 students per instructor during a training session, and also offers adult riding lessons for beginner adults and returning riders. All riders are required to wear an ASTM approved equestrian helmet, with helmets available to rent for a $5 fee, and riders must wear boots with a 1/4 inch heel that will not fall off. Tall English or Western boots and paddock boots with half chaps are suggested for growing children, close-fitting stretchy pants like breeches, jeggings, or leggings are suggested for English riding, jeans are suggested for Western riding, and any gloves suitable for driving a car are suggested for riding.
For public rides, the facility is open to the public to trailer in privately owned horses by appointment only, with only two riders allowed in the arena per two-hour time slot. Public rides require proof of a Negative Coggins Test within the past 12 months, proof of Equine Influenza vaccine within the past 6 months, and proof of Equine Herpes Virus (Rhino) vaccine within the past 6 months, along with onsite release forms printed and filled out before scheduling times. Public rides do not allow outside trainers, large groups or organizations, shows, trick riding, rodeo, or lessons by outside trainers.
The program describes itself as an educational facility focused on equine studies and various riding disciplines to enhance the relationship and bond between student and school horse. Instructors focus on the entire well-being of horse and rider by teaching fundamentals of overall horse care and more advanced techniques of horseback riding, with the stated goal that students may one day be able to own and care for their own horses. The principal goal is to maintain the beauty and heritage of the equine community in the changing landscape of urban Colorado. Past summers have seen over 700 kids participate through Arvada Indoor Equestrian Center, and the program has also worked through camps with Majestic View Nature Center and Avid4 Adventure in addition to its own camps and daily riding lessons.
