Learn to Bike Camp Boulder focuses on getting kids moving on bikes through a clear progression of skills. Campers spend time biking, walking their bikes, scooting downhill, coasting with their feet up, touching the pedals, and pedaling. The program is intended for first-time riders or kids using training wheels or balance bikes, not those who can already ride.
• Ages: 3–6 years old
• Schedule: One-week morning sessions, Monday–Friday, 9:00–11:45 a.m.
• Price: One Week AM Session Price $360; Early Drop Off starting at 8 a.m. $35
Aspiring cyclists ages three and a half to six attend this half-day Learn to Bike day camp. The program follows a thoughtful progression from scooting to coasting to pedaling, using a time-tested method that gives campers repeated practice with each step. Camper-to-staff ratios are 5:1 for individual attention and personalized coaching. Campers are strongly encouraged to use their own bikes, but they may also borrow from the camp fleet, which is part of a larger program that uses professional-caliber, top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids.
Learn to Bike Camp Boulder is taught by experienced, skilled, and patient instructors who are described as incredibly well-trained and professional. All instructors are 18 and older, with serious safety and skills training, and are characterized as talented teachers with the ability to connect with kids and encourage them to challenge themselves the right amount. The leadership team includes founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry.
The camp is part of Avid4 Adventure, whose mission states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that kids at Avid4 Adventure build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and holds credentials including Certified B Corp status, American Camp Association accreditation for its summer camps, and recognition among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps.
