About
Rock Climbing Camp – Boulder focuses on outdoor rock climbing and related skills. Campers spend time climbing, bouldering, belaying, rappelling, tying knots, and practicing equipment setup and traditional gear placement. They also work with carabiners, stoppers, camalots, and belay devices while learning climbing safety and ethics, climbing commands, proper spotting, hazard identification, and footwork and body positioning techniques.
• Ages: 7–12 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, with core camp hours from 9 AM to 3 PM and extended care options
• Price: One Week Price $740; Early Drop Off (starting at 8 AM) $35; After Care (3–5:30 PM) $105
Campers are grouped by grade range into 2nd–4th graders or 5th–7th graders. Every day, campers are taken out to climb at area crags on a variety of rock types, styles, and levels of difficulty, and Avid4 Adventure provides transportation to and from these recreation areas. Campers use top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids and practice identifying natural anchors and perfecting knots at local crags.
Instructors are all 18 and older, described as outdoors experts with serious safety and skills training. The leadership team includes Founder David Secunda, who is a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and has 25 years of experience in the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states that every activity starts with a discussion about risks, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong, and that the program teaches campers to use sound judgment and problem-solving in all aspects of their lives.
Avid4 Adventure describes its mission as believing in the transformative power of the outdoors, where kids build confidence, make new friends, and master skills in activities such as paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The organization notes that programs evolve as campers grow from age 3 to 17 and that multiple sessions are said to result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher risk assessment and environmental awareness, and improved social connection.
