About

Boulder Bulls Basketball offers spring and summer youth basketball tryouts, skills training, practices, tournaments, and coaching teams. Players take part in individual ball handling work, shooting mechanics, and footwork as part of the program’s training. The Boulder Bulls Jr Skills Academy is part of the program and includes skills training that focuses on fun while preparing players to play at the highest level.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Spring–summer youth tryouts on February 26th and 27th, with evening time slots by grade level

The spring–summer youth tryouts take place on February 26th for 5th–7th grade from 6:00–7:30pm and 8th grade through high school from 7:30–9:00pm, and on February 27th for K–4th grade from 6:00–7:00pm. The Boulder Bulls Jr Skills Academy is for ages 6–10 years old, with exceptional 4–5 year olds welcome, and new to the game 11–18 year olds may also start there until they are ready for practices. In addition to recreational and competitive teams, the program is developing elite players and teams, with elite players generally playing 1–3 age groups up in tournaments and national teams currently at 3rd and 4th grade levels that are expected to be among the best in the country. Top players in the program have early opportunities to coach teams, and gender is stated as not important at the elite level. The only stated requirement to participate is a love of the game, dedication, and the desire to learn, with an emphasis on developing mental toughness and the capacity for hard work.

The program’s mission states that it focuses purely on development in three areas: mindset, skillset, and athleticism, and that it is striving to build a basketball culture where players expect and prepare for the college and professional levels. The mission also states that attention to detail, leadership ability, mindsets, skillsets, and athleticism are challenged every day, that it is a program for everyone, and that it is an environment designed for players and leaders who want to be exceptional.

Boulder Bulls Basketball operates the Michael Wallis Rogge Scholarship Fund in memory of Michael W. Rogge and in honor of the Rogge Family, with the goal of growing the fund each year through donations to reach and impact a wide range of players who love to play basketball. Since January 2017, they have raised over $2,600 for scholarship athletes and have secured over $1,500 in scholarships for individual camps over the same time frame.
