Kick2Build is a 501c3 Colorado non-profit organization focused on building inclusive communities and affirming diversity through sports, cultural arts, music and dance programming. Kick2Build was born in 2019. The program offers an in-house non-competitive fall soccer season with a community approach, an in-house game league, no travel for games, Saturday games, and teams that have parent coaches, with games in Boulder or Lafayette. Kick2Build focuses on embracing cultural diversity, inclusivity, interdependence and affordability, and holds a belief that financial situation should not be a barrier and offers fair pricing and scholarships.
The leadership and coaching team includes Nana K. Boakye (CEO, Founder & Head Coach), John Welsch (Director, Competitive Soccer Club and Director of Soccer, Youth Club Competitive Soccer Committee), Senan Merveil Kottin (Assistant Director, Community Programs & Coach), Selasee Atiase (Coach and Member, Board of Directors), Keder Joseph (Coach), Kika Tuff (Coach), and Sarah Coronna (Coach). Parent and community testimonials describe Kick2Build as providing a welcoming and inclusive space for an interracial family in Boulder and as a community space that has helped that family connect with their Ghanaian heritage, overcome anxiety and stress, and find a sense of belonging, with a unique approach to sports that has helped their children feel more confident and proud of who they are. Another testimonial states appreciation for Kick2Build’s community building efforts and focus on equity, and notes that a child named Levi gets very excited at Kick2Build events and that the staff works hard to build genuine comradery and community. One parent states in Spanish that their child loved the camp held in the summer of 2023. Another testimonial from a teacher describes Kick2Build events as consistently uplifting physically, emotionally, mentally and socially, and notes observing students engaged with presenters, playing soccer, following directions, having fun, and participating in multi-cultural opportunities.
