Colorado Conservatory of Dance states a mission to increase accessibility of dance and performance for the community and believes that dance should be available and accessible to all. The school focuses on performances and stage presence and not on competitive dance, and it produces the Nutcracker. CCD offers a free trial dance class and 2026 Summer Programs for age 1 and up. The organization is described in its vision statement as a responsible and stable national model of excellence in dance, health and wellness, and non-profit management, and it has been voted Best Ballet Studio.

Colorado Conservatory of Dance is led by Founder and Artistic Director Julia Wilkinson Manley and new director Sandra Parks, who is referred to as the new lead at CCD since 2023. The program states that it values mentorship and partnership, teaches through the lens of process rather than right versus wrong or success versus failure, and is committed to providing a safe environment for both mental and physical health, including a body safe environment. CCD has a nondiscrimination policy that supports BBIPOC, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, neurodiverse peoples, and those who have been historically marginalized, oppressed, or underrepresented in society. CCD reaches thousands of elementary-aged students through its community education programs each year.

Parent testimonials describe faculty who are invested, creative, and committed to young kids, and describe the training as well rounded with small classes. One parent notes that the school focuses on performances and stage presence and compares some productions to collegiate shows at the University of Pennsylvania. Other parents describe the ballet training as top notch, mention a wide variety of other dance classes, and say their children have learned about their bodies and how to move safely. Parents also describe teachers who teach techniques of classical ballet and the art of dance, emphasize being good citizens, and provide chances to experience the professional side of dance with choreographers, teachers, and coaches.
