Equine Adventure: Kids’ Riding Camp at Cedar Ridge Ranch introduces campers to horses through learning horse behavior, horse care, horse handling, and riding techniques. Campers take part in grooming, tacking, riding, horsemanship exercises, and ranch-themed craft projects, including alpaca fiber felting. The program also includes learning about other livestock on the property, alpaca yoga, old-style games for kids, and outdoor activities such as stargazing.
• Schedule: Maximum of 10 campers per day for an intimate setting
Over the past 20 years, Cedar Ridge has been home to the horse community and supports other creative entrepreneurs in the valley, opening the farm to other farmers to provide more local nutritious food in the community. The family leadership team includes Pam Johnson (Mother, Owner, Creator), Randy Johnson (Father, owner, worker), and Merrill Johnson (Daughter, Manager, Visionary). Merrill was a sustainability student at Colorado Mountain College, and Randy received his MBA from the University of Dayton, Ohio, and has worked with IBM, Drexel Burnham Lambert as an investment banker, and as executive VP with Gamon International. The ranch is a family farm that states its mission as building connection, inspiring creativity, celebrating life, and being stewards of the land, with family at the heart of daily work.
