The Explorer camps are for 5- and 6-year-olds entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade, with a camper-to-staff ratio of 5:1. Parents and campers meet staff at a consistent location daily, and Avid4 Adventure transports campers to recreation areas for the specific adventure sport. The program provides access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids and strongly encourages campers to bring their own bike for biking day with training wheels removed beforehand. Campers learn Leave-No-Trace principles, and the organization states that it does everything in its power to keep kids safe while allowing calculated, well-communicated risks.

Instructors are all 18 and older, with serious safety and skills training, and are described as insatiable outdoors experts who love adventuring and working with kids. Avid4 Adventure recruits, hires, and trains high-class outdoor educators, and the leadership team has extensive experience in youth development, outdoor education, and operations. The leadership team includes founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states that its staff are the number one point of positive feedback from parents of campers and highlights top-tier staff as a key feature.

The organization’s mission states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that at Avid4 Adventure kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The mission also states that Avid4 Adventure was born out of a desire to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to ensure the future caretaking of the planet. Programs evolve as campers grow from age 3 to 17 and include summer day camps, overnight camps, school programs, and events, and Avid4 Adventure is described as the home of multi-sport adventure.

Avid4 Adventure offers an Avid4 Adventure Guarantee that promises an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, increased confidence, and a customer experience that exceeds expectations, with a free next camp if these promises are not met. The organization operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Avid4 Adventure is a Certified B Corp, its summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, and it has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps.

Parent testimonials from 2023 describe campers learning activities such as stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and biking, including learning to ride a bike without training wheels, and mention that staff are mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with children. Parents also report that their kids talk about camp well after it ends and are eager to return.
