Fountain Valley School of Colorado was established in 1930. The mission of Fountain Valley School is: “Drawing on its Western heritage, Fountain Valley School develops leaders who embrace the world with compassion and courage.” The leadership team for these programs includes Amanda Dedrick, Executive Administrative Assistant to the Head of School & CFO and Administrative Assistant of Summer Programs, and Josh Alford, English Faculty and Climbing Camp Director. Lindsey Murphy is an Athletic Trainer Certified. Fountain Valley School is accredited by the Association of Colorado Independent Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools, and The Association of Boarding Schools. The broader school offers traditional sports such as basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and swimming, as well as non-traditional mountain sports ranging from climbing to biking and three-season Western and English Riding programs. It also offers eleven sport options, average class sizes of up to 12 students across over 100 courses, and boarders live in 10 spacious adobe residential houses built for 16 to 20 students each. Approximately 98% of full-time teaching faculty reside on campus, and 63% of all teaching faculty hold advanced degrees. One testimonial from a student, Sofia B. from the Class of 2025, states, “Our teacher-student connections are unparalleled to anywhere else. I feel so close to many of the faculty on campus and will definitely keep in contact with them after graduation. It really is incredible.” Alumni Jeff Brabec, Ph.D., Class of 2014, says, “Going to Fountain Valley was probably one of the best things that I could have done. I [underwent] a lot of my educational and emotional growth at FVS. I had experiences there that I still talk about to this day and rely on in times of uncertainty. I truly think I would not be where I am today if I hadn’t had the opportunity to attend Fountain Valley School.” Alumni and parent Burton McLucas, Class of 1987 and Parent, Class of 2026, shares, “FVS has held a special place in my heart since I was eight years old. Having grown up on its sprawling 1,100-acre campus as a faculty child, I always felt at home. Later, as a student, I was privileged to receive a world-class education from its exceptional faculty, which laid the foundation for my future success. Without hesitation, FVS was the only private school I considered for my daughter. She, too, cherishes her time at FVS.” Faculty member Mr. Nathan Eberhart says, “I believe deeply in the unique and transformative learning that happens within the adobe walls of FVS and beyond. One of my favorite parts of teaching language at Fountain Valley School is the opportunity to take students abroad on Interim to practice their conversational skills while immersed in the target language in destinations like Morocco, France, and Colombia. Having served as the Chair of the Languages Department since 2020 and Dean of Faculty, Equity & Teaching since 2023, I was inspired to work at Fountain Valley after seeing the positive impact it had on my younger brother, Zachary '13, and Zachary's father, Douglas '76.”
