About the provider
National Karate says it has been operating since 1973, and its South Colorado Springs location opened in 2023 as the second NK school in Colorado. Its mission statement says that men, women, and children develop strength in the body, honesty in the heart, and true mental confidence through the dedicated practice of National Karate martial arts. The school says its instructors are highly trained, and it names Grandmasters and 10th Degree Black Belts John Worley and Larry Carnahan, as well as Jeff Sidner, who holds a 7th Degree Black Belt and was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt in 1995.
The curriculum is described as positive, safe and fun. Youth build focus, self-esteem, and leadership skills. Children develop discipline and coordination skills. The school says its instructors help students achieve life goals.
What families say
“Our oldest (6) loves his classes at National Karate. Started at age 5. Mr Sidner is patient and kind while maintaining structure and boundaries with the kids. Does his best to maintain an environment conducive to learning. He also knows every student by name. occasionally a teen will teach, and we've yet to be dissatisfied with anyone who we've seen teach our kid.” — Lori Cre
