Denver Parks & Recreation Youth Tennis offers Pee Wee Tennis, Youth Beginner Tennis - Level 1, Youth Advanced Beginner Tennis - Level 2, and Youth Intermediate Tennis - Levels 3 & 4. Pee Wee Tennis introduces tennis and sportsmanship in a fun and exciting way for students with little or no tennis experience, using a learn and play format with a red ball and 36' court while teaching basic strokes, racquet handling, and motor skills such as throwing, tracking, catching, coordination, balance, and agility. Youth Beginner Tennis - Level 1 is for students with little or no tennis experience and introduces basic techniques and fundamentals including ground strokes, volley, and serve through games and drills, using red ball and 36' court and orange ball and 60' court formats while reiterating good sportsmanship and building familiarity with the court, hand-eye coordination, agility, movement, and racquet-handling skills. Youth Advanced Beginner Tennis - Level 2 is for players who already know basic tennis strokes and can hit a tossed or racquet-fed ball with general movement and athletic skills and can rally moderately-paced balls consistently, and it advances skills through cooperative rally and play activities emphasizing good sportsmanship using a learn and play format with an orange ball and 60' court. Youth Intermediate Tennis - Levels 3 & 4 is for participants expanding stroke development in areas such as directional control, spin, and depth, and it advances skills through cooperative rally and play activities, incorporates point play with a focus on singles play, scoring, and all-court coverage, and uses a learn and play format with a green ball and 78' court while instructors reinforce good sportsmanship and cultivating a love of the game.
