Durango Mountain Camp

Durango Mountain Camp offers a 5 1/2 week summer session for children ages 9 to 16. Each weekday includes one hour of one-on-one tutoring, one hour of small-group study hall, one hour of composition, and one hour of art, along with outdoor adventures and evening activities for residential campers.

• General schedule: The camp is a 5 ½ week summer session. Each student receives one hour daily of one-on-one tutoring, one hour of small-group study hall, one hour of composition, and one hour of art on weekdays. Sample schedule includes breakfast at 8:30, tutor 9:00-9:55, composition 10:00-10:55, art and/or science 11:15-12:10, study hall 12:15-1:10, lunch 1:10-1:50, outdoor adventures 2:00-5:00, and evening activities for residential campers.

Durango Mountain Camp was established in 1998 and uses the mission statement, "Helping YoungDyslexic Minds Thrive." A registered nurse lives on campus. Staff complete annual in-person training and background checks, and the camp has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Overnight campers live in gender-separated cabins with about 8 students and 2 to 3 camp counselors in each cabin.

A registered nurse lives on campus. All campers must arrive with a clean bill of health. Staff complete annual in-person training and background checks. Camp maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Overnight campers live in cabins on campus, separated by gender, with about 8 students and 2–3 camp counselors in each cabin.
