About
Fort Collins Children's Theatre Youth Programs include activities such as acting, singing, dancing, rehearsals, learning music, choreography, and blocking for a musical, as well as learning lines and characterization. Participants also work on auditioning skills, performing skills, and dramatizing a story, and some sessions include a cast pizza party, a getting to know you celebration, and a wrap-up celebration. Certain programs include watching a performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr.

Fort Collins Children's Theatre offers several youth programs, including Spring Break Story Theater 2026, Spring After School Story Theater 2026, Summer Story Theater 2026, Center Stage Juniors, Center Stage Seniors, and the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. musical workshop. Story Theater is described as a week-long theatre camp for kids 8–12 that meets each day from 9am to 2pm and ends with a performance on the last day. The Spring Break Story Theater 2026 session runs March 16–20, 2026, from 9am to 2pm each day, with a performance on Friday early evening. Spring After School Story Theater 2026 runs March 23–April 15, 2026, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:00pm, with a performance after the last class. Summer Story Theater 2026 Week 1 runs June 15–18, 9am to 2pm, with a performance on Thursday early evening, and on Friday, June 19, participants meet at the Lincoln Center at 9am to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. from 10–11am followed by a wrap-up celebration until noon. Summer Story Theater 2026 Week 2 invites participants to meet at the Lincoln Center at 2pm on Sunday, June 21, to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. from 2:30 to 3:30, followed by a celebration until 4:30, then holds rehearsals June 22–25 from 9am to 2pm with a performance Thursday early evening. Center Stage Juniors and Center Stage Seniors are each 3-week musical theatre workshops in June, with Juniors rehearsing in the mornings and Seniors in the afternoons, and both groups produce the same Broadway Jr. musical. The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. musical workshop runs June 1–21, 2026, with the first two weeks in the FCCT workspace and the third week at The Lincoln Center Magnolia Theater for full tech week and shows June 19–21.
The mission of Fort Collins Children's Theatre is to engage the Northern Colorado community in live, family-friendly theatre and story while providing safe spaces for personal and cultural growth. Fort Collins Children's Theatre has been engaging the Northern Colorado community for more than 60 years and staged a show on the Main Stage of the Lincoln Center in 1978. In the early 1980s, the Board of Directors started a summer program for children aged 9–12 called the Peanut Butter Players, and later added the summer program Jam Revue for children aged 12–15 years. The organization engages the Northern Colorado community in live, family-friendly theatre and story and brings people together in the mission to provide quality live theatre for the children and families of Northern Colorado, including productions on stages throughout the Front Range such as Colorado State University’s Johnson Hall and some Poudre School District auditoriums. Fort Collins Children's Theatre has set up the Debbie Dixon Endowment Fund as a collaboration with the Community Foundation and operates as a volunteer-powered organization with monthly board meetings and additional sub-committee meetings as needed. The leadership team includes Matt Shein (President), Anna Epstein (Vice President, Marketing Manager), Karen Hammann (Treasurer), Adria Lair (Secretary), Jessica Pluta (Operations Manager), Karen Christophersen (Production Manager), and board members Amanda Ercole, Kris Malloy, Charles Hemphill, Stacy Latelle, and Austin Naylor.
