About

Junior Programs at University of Denver Golf Club (with Peak Golf Academy) include junior golf programs such as the Summer Junior Play Club, multiple Play Club options, PGA Junior League, private lessons for junior golfers, and several class-based programs. Participants take part in game-based class activities, develop coordination and motor skills, learn the basics of golf equipment, grip, stance, and posture, and work on full swing, chipping, and putting. Some programs include playing on the course with an introduction to scorekeeping, etiquette, and rules, as well as physical fitness activities, learning more advanced swing concepts, and competition-based classes and practices.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer Junior Play Club runs for eight weeks starting in June; Play Clubs meet on Monday evenings; PGA Junior League teams include seven practices and six matches typically on weekday evenings; class-based programs are offered in Spring, Fall, and other eight-class sessions.

The Summer Junior Play Club offers boys and girls ages 6–18 a weekly chance to play while learning many aspects of the game of golf. The 9-Hole Play Club is labeled “Competitive” for intermediate and experienced golfers playing a longer course with accurate scoring and ranking and weekly contests, and all golfers in this group need to be able to walk 9 holes with their clubs at a two hour and ten minute pace of play. The 6-Hole Play Club is labeled “Recreational” for beginner and intermediate golfers with optional scorekeeping and included coaching and fundamental instruction, and the 3-Hole Beginner Level is labeled “Beginner/Developmental” for very beginner golfers with coaching and fundamental instruction, with play on holes 10, 11, and 12 only.

PGA Junior League is described as team golf playing match play against another team in a scramble format and is described as a fun, social, less stressful approach to tournament golf, and it is designed as a steppingstone into individual stroke play tournaments. The Future 36ers program focuses on age-appropriate coordination and motor skills and game-based class activities. Learn to Play focuses on fundamental movement skills, general golf skills, and physical fitness activities, while Play to Improve introduces training to further develop golf-specific skills and more advanced swing concepts. Train to Compete is designed to teach golfers to perform under a variety of conditions and encourages competitive spirit with competition-based classes and practices.

Junior golf programs are described as designed to accommodate players of all abilities and help develop life-long golf skills. The University of Denver states that it is dedicated to the public good by providing high-quality recreational and wellness programs to the communities in which it serves. The University of Denver Golf Club is partnering with Peak Golf Academy for Junior Programs, and Mark McCarthy is listed as a contact for Peak Program questions. The University of Denver is described as an equal opportunity affirmative action institution.
