About the provider
Gold Crown Foundation was founded in 1986. Its mission is educating youth and community through sports and enrichment programs. The foundation offers free facility use to several community partners, including Special Olympics Colorado, National Sports Center for the Disabled, Jeffco Adaptive Athletics, Easter Seals, Colorado Wheelchair Basketball, and Adam’s Camp. It also provides nearly $900,000 each year in subsidized program fees and never turns away a child for financial reasons through its scholarship program.
Through its scholarship program, it never turns away a child for financial reasons. GCF offers camps, clinics, leagues and tournaments for 6-20 year olds in Colorado and surrounding states. Gold Crown Enrichment is a free, drop-in program that operates throughout the year at two locations: the Best Buy Teen Tech Center in Lakewood and the Gold Crown Clubhouse at Edgewater.
What families say
“Kids spend their time in a positive way here, and so they stay away from the negatives out there. Sports are a great way to build character in kids.” — Former Colorado Governor Bill Ritter
“It's been a pleasure to watch this corner and part of the community become a dynamic place for youth and the entire neighborhood. It's been a great partnership between Gold Crown, the school district, many private organizations and the City.” — Former Lakewood Mayor Bob Murphy
“Anytime a Foundation, a community and a City can come together to say, 'We believe in you. We believe you can be an athlete, you can be on computers, you can be an artist, but believe in yourself.' I think that's how we have benefited from the partnership - we help kids believe in themselves.” — Former Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Cindy Stevenson
