About
District of Columbia Football Club (DCFC) offers soccer activities that include camps, clinics, fitness sessions, free play sessions, and competing in matches against other local clubs. Players also take part in tournaments within manageable distances of the District of Columbia. In addition to soccer, the program includes tutoring, guest speakers, mentorship, SAT preparation, college counseling sessions, and soccer-specific nutrition, health, and wellness workshops.
• Price: DCFC is completely free for players.
Since 2015, hundreds of youth soccer players have attended Open Goal Project programs, and in 2019 Open Goal Project launched DCFC as its own fully-funded program. DCFC is powered by Open Goal Project, a non-profit organization. DCFC’s curriculum and vision for youth development is guided by Open Goal Project Executive Director, Amir Lowery. Licensed, professional coaches lead the programming, and Amir Lowery holds a USSF ‘B’ coaching license, competed as a student-athlete in college at Wake Forest University, played soccer professionally for nearly a decade in Major League Soccer and the United Soccer League, and has coached players at a variety of youth levels from elementary to high school age groups. DCFC communications to participants and their families are offered in English and Spanish, and the program operates on an independent schedule to mitigate costs and travel while holding all sessions within walking distance of public transportation.
