About
Soccer Shots is a children’s soccer program where kids play soccer, learn age-appropriate soccer skills, and practice fundamental soccer principles such as using their feet, dribbling, and the basic rules of the game. Sessions include songs, fun games, basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting, as well as competitive play through fun games and team competitions. Activities take place in a safe environment called Soccer Island.
• Ages: 18 months–8 years old
Soccer Shots offers three program levels: a MINI (Toddler) program, a CLASSIC (Preschool) program, and a PREMIER (School-Age) program. The curriculum is expert-approved, aligns with early childhood education standards, and is created under the guidance of childhood education specialists, professional soccer players, and experienced and licensed soccer coaches. The developmentally appropriate curriculum places an emphasis on character development and skill building, and each session highlights a positive character trait such as respect, teamwork, or appreciation.
Every Soccer Shots coach must complete a comprehensive training program to receive certification, is trained in the use of developmentally appropriate techniques, is routinely evaluated, and undergoes ongoing training. The program uses a curriculum specifically designed for this age group that builds on skills and introduces competitive play. Soccer Shots is positioned as a best-in-class children’s soccer program with a focus on character development and is consistently recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as the #1 Children’s Fitness Franchise in the U.S.
Soccer Shots was formed in 1997 by founding partners Jeremy Sorzano and Jason Webb, who were college and professional soccer teammates. In May 2009, their former college soccer teammate Justin Bredeman became the third Soccer Shots partner. In 2005, Soccer Shots began franchising and opened its first four franchises in Ohio, Delaware, Florida, and Pennsylvania, and it has since grown to over 300 territories across 43 states and 2 Canadian provinces, with over 560,000 enrollments in 2023. Soccer Shots Franchising, LLC is based in central Pennsylvania, just east of Harrisburg.
Soccer Shots partners with local childcare centers, preschools, elementary schools, and other organizations to bring soccer to children across North America. Through partnerships with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Nike, and other organizations, Soccer Shots aims to impact children and communities across the U.S. and the world. The program states that it believes soccer is a powerful vehicle for positively impacting youth both on and off the soccer field, and its mission is to positively impact children’s lives as the premier Children’s Soccer Experience.
Families have described their experiences with Soccer Shots in several ways. One parent from Kalamazoo, Michigan, shared that their daughter moved from holding a parent’s hand to running to her coach and is learning soccer skills, taking turns, independence, and how to cheer for others. Other parents from Phoenix, Arizona; Dallas, Texas; and San Diego, California, have described the instructors and coaches as amazing or great, noted growth in their children over months in the program, and mentioned that sessions were organized and kept kids engaged.
