Skill Samurai Holiday Camps and Weekly Classes
Skill Samurai Miami, 4008 Fox Valley Center Dr, Aurora, FL 33185
About
Skill Samurai Holiday Camps and Weekly Classes offers coding, robotics, STEM activities, game design, AI, and app development. Camp days also include interactive play and fitness, a STEM challenge of the day, and themed options such as a Pokémon school holiday class.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Daily and weekly sessions with half, full, and multi-day camps
• Price: $50 refundable deposit for the 2-Week Future Coder Challenge.
An example camp day runs from an 8:45–9:00 a.m. student drop off through a 4:00–4:45 p.m. pick up, with a morning meeting and group game, multiple themed activities, snack and lunch breaks (with campers bringing their own food), interactive play and fitness, a STEM challenge of the day, and clean up at 3:45 p.m. The program uses small class sizes, low teacher to student ratios, and a safe check in process, and it is offered in-person or online depending on prevailing Safe Management Measures. Daily and weekly sessions feature new themes every week, fresh content every session, and courses based on games such as Roblox and Minecraft, and the camps are not sleep-over programs.
The program is led by adult-led professional staff and trained adult educators, with friendly staff who have camp experience. Kids work in teams on special projects, follow personalized learning paths within a collaborative class culture, and have regular breaks that include unplugging from devices with other STEM activities. Options include the MathCode™ Mastery integrated maths and coding program, the 2-Week Future Coder Challenge with 2 full sessions and a progress report, and small group trial classes with a maximum of 8 kids, along with sibling, group, and multi-day discounts and flexible month-to-month memberships with no contracts.
For 8 years, the company has been delivering creative summer camps nationwide to more than 10,000 students, and for 10 years it has been delivering creative camps worldwide to more than 15,000 students. Since 2015, Skill Samurai’s curriculum has been used, and since 2017 Skill Samurai has been working to empower students’ lives through education. The courses are described as award-winning, and the mission states that every child deserves the tools to thrive in a digital world, not just consume it.
Skill Samurai has sponsored international projects including teaching sewing and business skills to women in Bangladesh, orphanage construction in India, and educating children in Nairobi, and it partners with local schools to deliver classes during the day and after school. One parent described Skill Samurai as a whole new adventure for their ASD son and noted the patience and encouragement from staff, another parent reported that their child loved the Pokémon school holiday class and was proud to show off their work, and a third parent stated that their son attended two days of holiday programs and had a fantastic time.
