Island Groove Dance Studio offers dance and musical theater. Students take part in styles such as lyrical, modern, hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, and pom-dance-team technique, depending on the instructor and class.
The leadership team includes Renee (CEO/Owner & Studio Director), Krysti (Dance Instructor), Kara (Dance Instructor), Kristin (Dance Instructor & Comp. Admin), Nan (Musical Theater Instructor), Mackenzie (Dance Instructor), and Kaitlyn (Studio Admin). Renee studied lyrical, modern, and hip hop for 14 years at a local dance school, spent 3 years studying hip hop dance and fitness with Beach Body Instructor Shaun T at Tricia Sloan Dance Center in Wenonah, NJ, studied Modern Dance I & II at Camden County Community College, and is the founder and operator of Hip Hop & Groovy Dance and Island Groove Dance Studio. Krysti has been dancing for 24 years, was part of a traveling competitive dance team, show choir, and cheerleading team, has studied all genres of dance, has worked with choreographers for Britney Spears, Missy Elliott, and Michael Jackson, and is certified in group fitness, La Barre, and gymnastics. Kara has an eclectic movement style with roots in contemporary-modern, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, flow arts, hula-hoop, and pom-dance-team technique, and her choreography has garnered awards. Kristin’s dance education began in Orlando, Florida, where she trained at multiple studios. Mackenzie has been dancing and performing for over 16 years, has trained extensively in jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, lyrical, and contemporary, started competing at age 7 until she graduated in 2018, has studied dance throughout Washington, Oregon, and California, and served as a teacher's assistant, co-teacher, and competition team assistant for several years before starting as an instructor at Island Groove Dance Studio. Island Groove Dance Studio offers a parent portal, the option to trial a free class, summer camps, Early Bird Special Pricing, a deposit option, an IGD gear shop, and a Fantasy Fest Flash Mob project hosted at The Green Parrot in Key West, Florida. The studio’s stated mission is to “Ignite a passion for dance with expert training that empowers young artists to move confidently on stage, in life, and within a supportive dance family.”
