Palm Beach Martial Arts has been serving Boynton Beach since 1994. The program states that its mission is to create “Champions in Life” by instilling the lessons and values of martial arts, including the 5 Tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. The Children’s Taekwondo program has the stated goal of instilling the confidence and discipline needed to create “Champions in Life” while supporting the values taught at home.
All instructors are USA Taekwondo and Kukkiwon Certified Black Belts and are State, National, and International Champions. Master Mark Antonucci, known as “Master Mark,” is the Master Instructor and Head Coach of Palm Beach Martial Arts and serves as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of TKD Sports and Health Foundation, Corp. Master Mark began martial arts training in 1976, has held black belt ranks from 1st Dan through 5th Dan between 1984 and 2017, has been teaching Taekwondo since 1984, and opened his first school in 1990. He holds multiple certifications from USA Taekwondo and Kukkiwon, including USA Taekwondo Sport Taekwondo Coach and Referee/Judge certifications, an International Masters Certification from Kukkiwon, and an International Certification from Kukkiwon to judge ranking promotions, and he is also a certified level 1 coach, referee, and volunteer with USA Taekwondo.
Palm Beach Martial Arts is the home of State, National, and International Champions and is the home of the Florida Sport Taekwondo Federation President for the State of Florida. Master Mark founded TKD Sports and Health Foundation, Corp., a public charity that sponsors athletes and promotes athletics and health education through sponsoring sporting events and other sporting activities. In December 2018, he co-founded the Florida Sport Taekwondo Federation, Inc. (FST), which is the Florida State Taekwondo Association sanctioned by USA Taekwondo and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee and is responsible for developing and increasing local participation in Taekwondo, including organizing, sponsoring, promoting, and operating the Florida State Taekwondo Championships and National Team Qualifier sanctioned by USA Taekwondo.
Program materials describe the preschool martial arts option as a blend of gross motor skill building and fun, the kids martial arts program as blending self-defense and tradition, the teen martial arts program as a “tech alternative” that gets teens active and engaged, and the adult martial arts program as focusing on fitness goals and life-saving techniques for real-world application. The Summer Camp is promoted as an experience children will not forget, and the AfterSchool Program is described as a place where children are safe and learning skills for life while parents work. Birthday parties at Palm Beach Martial Arts are described as fun and not a lot of work for parents. The program states a belief that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or experience level, and emphasizes a realistic and practical approach to self-defense training, as well as fostering self-discipline, socialization skills, physical activity, goal setting, increased self-esteem, respect, non-violent conflict resolution, listening skills, teamwork, and improvement in other areas of life. The program notes that staff speak Spanish (“Hablamos Español”).
Families are advised that participants should wear comfortable clothes suitable for sports, that skirts are not suitable for practicing kicks, and that students should bring a water bottle to martial arts classes. Testimonials describe Palm Beach Martial Arts as having excellent training, experienced professional Taekwondo instructors, individual attention for children, patient teachers, and a family-oriented environment.
