Camp sessions teach children about citizenship, leadership, cooperation, respect, and environmental responsibility. The program is offered by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Eckerd Connects and The Florida Sheriffs Association, and R.O.A.R. Camp is funded through drug forfeiture funds. R.O.A.R. Camp is for Hernando County residents only, and lunch and snacks are provided. Campers must be able to feed themselves and use the restroom independently, or they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from camp, and if a child is not present on Monday, his or her spot will be filled by another child. If a child has a special diet or food allergies, parents are asked to send lunch and snacks in a small cooler.
