• Schedule: Protected, constructive environment during the hours of 3–8 pm, with services offered on a consistent, daily basis, 52 weeks per year
The program’s mission states that for Citrus and Marion County kids ages 6–18, Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties provides a positive, constructive bridge between the end of the school day and the parents’ arrival home from work, and that by providing a place to go after school, it redefines the opportunity equation for members as “School + Out of School = GREAT FUTURES.” The Clubs are managed by a full-time chief professional officer and governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of local residents. The staff includes well-trained professional staff, part-time workers, and dedicated volunteers, and is described as representative of the youth population served. The organization describes its youth development programs as award-winning and focused on education and career development (including technology), character and leadership development, the arts, health and life skills, and sports, fitness and recreation, and notes that sports and fitness are a staple of daily programming at the Clubs.
