The Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties Before and After School Program includes homework help, tutoring, reading books, and participating in literacy events. Members participate in science experiments and spend time writing poetry, stories, screen plays, and letters to military troops deployed. The program also includes mentoring, exploring math concepts in real life scenarios, and daily sports and fitness where each member spends at least one hour playing and exercising.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Program hours include the after-school period from 3–8 pm, with services offered on a consistent, daily basis, 52 weeks per year.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties provides a positive, constructive bridge between the end of the school day and the parents’ arrival home from work. The organization’s award-winning youth development programs focus on education and career development (including technology), character and leadership development, the arts, health and life skills, and sports, fitness and recreation. The staff includes well-trained professionals and volunteers, and the Clubs are managed by a full-time chief professional officer and governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of local residents.
