Scouting America South Florida Council

Scouting America South Florida Council offers Cub Scouting for boys and girls ages 5 to 10, Scouts BSA for boys and girls ages 11 to 18, and Venturing for co-ed youth ages 13 to 20. Cub Scouting includes hands-on experiences through social activities. Scouts BSA includes outdoor activities, camping, leadership skills, and time with friends. Venturing includes high adventure activities, community service, leadership, teamwork, and socialization skills.

Programs

• Cub Scouting — Boys and Girls: Ages 5 to 10 · Hands-on experiences through a wide range of fun social activities. Packs can be Girls only, Boys only, or Family Packs. Dens are boy only or girl only.
• Scouts BSA — Boys and Girls, Ages 11 to 18 · Scouts have real-world experiences and adventures. They get outdoors, go camping, learn leadership skills, and discover talents and interests while having fun with friends.
• Venturing — Co-ed, Ages 13 to 20 · Venturers do challenging, high adventure activities, as well as community service, building leadership, teamwork and socialization skills.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• General schedule: Year-round programs. Camp Elmore provides daily, weekend, and summer programs. Camp Elmore camping reservations open each year on May 15th for the next full school year.
• Facility hours: Tatham Scout Service Center: Monday-Friday, 10am to 3pm and by appointment; Miami Scout Shop: Monday 10:00am to 8:00pm, Tuesday-Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm, Sunday closed

About the provider

Scouting America South Florida Council was founded in 1911. Its programs annually impact more than 20,000 youth and their families, and it serves youth in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. The council’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

• Camp Elmore camping and day use — Weekend and one night camping; camping or day use reservations available.
• Camp Sawyer camping — Camp for Scouts and families; offers camping and aquatic activities.
• Camp Everglades camping — Daily and weekend opportunities for Scouts and families.

Cub Scout camping is limited to Council-approved and designated locations with appropriate facilities for a maximum of two camping nights under BALOO-trained adult supervision. Pack overnighters are recommended to be within approx. 3 hours driving time one way. Remote campsites and backpacking/boating/carrying in gear are not approved for Cub Scouts or Webelos. Site approval is good for two years. For non-BSA groups, allow 45 days prior to requested arrival date.
