Thomas and Catherine Oliver lead the program as a guide team and opened Amelia Adventures as a family-owned and operated boating and nature tour company. Thomas has over 25 years of kayak and guiding experience and holds an American Canoe Association Level III coastal kayaking certification. Catherine was an Outward Bound Instructor with over 20 years of guiding, kayaking, and canoeing experience, and she is a registered nurse who has specialized in cardiology, infection prevention, performance improvement, case management, and teaching.

The program’s stated mission is to build life’s most cherished memories through shared experiences and the outdoors, with a camp that is described as both a vacation and an education that fosters a love for nature, adventure, and the wider world. The Adventure Camp goals listed are to learn about nature, develop confidence-building skills, and have fun. The Oliver family states that they believe in protecting natural resources and practice “Leave No Trace” ethics on all guided tours, encouraging guests to take only photos and leave only footprints.
