Clay County Soccer Club (CCSC), which runs these programs, states that its mission is to provide a positive all inclusive environment that is conducive to the athletic and personal development of local youth and to promote honor, integrity, teamwork, perseverance, confidence, competition, and sportsmanship through soccer. CCSC describes its Recreational soccer program as the foundation of the club and states that it is designed to encourage players to develop a passion for the game of soccer, with younger players allowed to explore soccer through small sided games and parent volunteer coaches supported by club professionals. The Academy Program is described as emphasizing technically proficient players and an understanding of small sided tactics, using various small sided games to teach aspects of the game, while the Elite Academy is described as a bridge between Academy and Premier that keeps players training at the highest possible level and continues academy style training focused on individual skill development while introducing a premier team environment. The Premier Program is described as being for competitive and advanced level players between the ages of 8 and 18 who demonstrate the desire and ability to learn and play soccer at the next level, and as being designed to develop each individual player to their fullest potential while inspiring responsibility and commitment to a team.
CCSC states that it offers both recreational soccer and highly competitive travel team opportunities and provides every level of youth soccer from highly competitive to recreational, as well as semi-professional teams for both men and women. The semi-professional teams compete in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), and CCSC’s teams compete in US Youth Soccer (USYS) National League Elite 64, National Academy League (NAL), and Elite Development Program (EDP). CCSC reports that it serves over 2,500 youths from Clay and neighboring counties for Recreational, Academy, Premier, and Semi-Professional soccer and that it is a 501(c)3 organization affiliated with the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) and U.S. Club Soccer. The leadership team includes Executive Director Matt Hollyoak and UPSL Men’s Head Coach Nawal Gurung, who is described as a UEFA-licensed soccer coach and performance specialist with international experience across the U.K., U.S., and Nepal, holding a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, a BSc in Sports Therapy, and certifications in Strength & Conditioning and Return-to-Play. One testimonial states that the coach’s goal is to raise the standard technically, physically, and mentally so every player can perform with confidence and purpose, and another testimonial describes Newal as having strong knowledge of the game and passion for youth development and as a positive fit to be the Head Coach of the UPSL team.
