About
Frontline for Kids is an intervention and prevention after school program that includes academics, recreation, Reality Therapy counseling, nutrition, and daily homework assistance. The program also includes formal and informal assessments, personal growth activities, goal setting, social skill development, community service, and hard-impact activities. Frontline for Kids takes an integral part in students’ success planning by involving them in the creation of their Personal Success Plan.
• Schedule: Children are at Frontline for Kids from 2–7 PM, receiving care and guidance during that time
Frontline for Kids is an after school program established in 1999 by Mr. Jerome Zohndyuwayee Gayman. The program’s philosophy focuses on services in academics, recreation, Reality Therapy counseling, and nutrition, and it addresses the development of the “whole” child by seeking to comprehensively “wrap itself” around participants. Frontline specializes in Reality Therapy, a method of counseling that focuses on the present and the future while using the past as a guide, and this approach is a major component of its philosophy in delivering after school programs. The program’s goal is to offer a long-term commitment to participants until graduation from high school and/or through G.E.D. attainment, using a comprehensive Reality Therapy approach to teach appropriate behavior and coping skills. Frontline’s keys to success include family, crime prevention and intervention, and home and school visits, and its logo has four puzzle pieces that represent its four principles: academics, recreation, Reality Therapy counseling, and nutrition. Frontline Kids are described as intelligent, creative, working well as a team, watching out for one another, and each child is described as a contributing member to society. Frontline for Kids states that it minimizes the crime rate because children are safe and receiving care and guidance from 2–7 PM while at the program. The Board of Directors, administration, and staff thank funders including the Wynne Charitable Foundation, the Wynne Family, Children Services Council of St. Lucie County, United Way of St. Lucie County, Wells Fargo Bank, PNC Bank, and the Food Bank for 19 years of capacity building and partnerships.
