Camp Adventure includes activities such as Wacky Olympics, a Carnival, Pirate Invasion, Avatar Ball, Pro-Bending, Gator Ball, Battle Ball, Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, Dodge Ball, Quidditch, and games like Dragon Attack, Frogger, Junk Ball, and Fire Ball. Campers also take part in weekly arts and crafts projects, ceramics, clay art, poster art, and story time, along with Fran and Nikki’s crazy puppet shows. Sports and group games include Football, Whiffle Ball, Basketball, Broom Ball, Kick Ball, Cage Ball, Relay Races, Soccer, Baseball, and Capture the Flag.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Color War is split, with Lower Camp Color War during week 6 (July 13–17) and Middle, Upper, and Teen Camp Color War during week 8 (July 27–31).
Camp Adventure runs four camp groups: Lower Camp for students entering kindergarten (5 years old) through second grade, Middle Camp for 3rd and 4th grade students, Upper Camp for 5th and 6th grade students, and Teen Camp for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students. Campers are placed in age-appropriate, co-ed groups, and the program uses a block scheduling system so campers rotate through different activities. In order for a camper to attend Color War, they must attend camp for a minimum of two weeks prior to Color War.
Camp Adventure’s staff is made up of Broward County teachers, teacher aides, and college students interested in working with children, and the staff is described as a “Kid-Oriented Staff.” Camp Directors are Scott Avras and Fran Scarcella. Camp Adventure will be celebrating 28 years of Camp Adventure, after 23 summers operating out of Tree Tops Park, and has changed its daily format moving forward in response to the Covid-19 crisis, including no longer going on field trips and changing the minimum age and grade requirement for the C.I.T. Program back to 14 years of age and going into 9th grade. The Camp Adventure Mission Statement is: “It is our mission to provide children with a variety of fun-filled activities while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable environment.”
