Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s mission is to promote conservation of ocean ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles. The center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit sea turtle research, rehabilitation, education, and conservation facility that houses live sea turtles and other coastal creatures, and it includes the only sea turtle hospital between Orlando and the Florida Keys. Exhibits feature a massive prehistoric Archelon sea turtle replica, salt water aquaria, displays of local wildlife, and educational displays about South Florida's marine environment, and the facility also offers a 24-hour sea turtle rescue line and a 24-hour hatchling drop off container at the front entrance for stranded sea turtle hatchlings. Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts thousands of school children each year through field trips, outreach programs, summer camp and other educational experiences, and it partners with Busch Wildlife Sanctuary for injured, sick or orphaned wild animals such as land or freshwater turtles. The Unwrap the Waves Initiative allows students and community members to collect their candy wrappers from Halloween and recycle them, including collecting candy wrappers and recycling them through this program. Loggerhead Marinelife Center was named the No. 1 “Best Free Attraction” in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards back-to-back for 2024-25. In 1983 the Children’s Museum of Juno Beach was incorporated, the name was changed to The Marinelife Center of Juno Beach in 1990, and in April 2007 the organization relocated to a new 12,000 square foot certified “green” facility and changed its name to Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
