The camp offers an early bird registration promotion for the first fifty campers, and registration is accepted online only for summer 2025.

The camp’s motto is “RESPECT AND PROTECT” the ocean environment, and it focuses on learning what it means to be a steward of Biscayne Bay and its surrounding waters. According to its mission statement, the camp encourages every camper to explore what lies beyond the water’s edge through hands-on water activities, learn water safety, build confidence, and leave with a lifetime of water skills.

Key Biscayne Aquatic Camp is in its twelfth year. David E. Patlan, also known as Coach, is the Camp Director and has been the director for ten years. He works at Key Biscayne K-8 Center as the middle school PE coach and uses his water skills to guide and instruct public and private clients in kayaking and kayak fishing in fresh and saltwater, paddle boarding, canoeing, snorkeling, and surfing. The leadership contact information lists Camp Director David E. Patlan with a phone number of (786)843-1115 and email [email protected].

A parent testimonial from David, dated June 15, 2014, states that his sons learned water rescue skills at the camp that they used on a family camping trip when their canoe tipped over, and they used water safety skills to gather belongings and get back to shore.
