About
Key Biscayne Aquatic Camp includes activities such as snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, water play, and team games and water play. Campers take part in ocean education, Sea Grass Discovery, Beach and Ocean Safety, and learn specific kayaking skills, snorkeling skills, fishing skills, and Level 1 Archery Skills. The program also features a water trampoline, Super Soaker Fun, Water Balloon Fun, “Toss and Launch,” Water Rocket Build n Boost, and Water Rodeo.

• Schedule: Camp hours 9:00am to 2:00pm in one-week sessions from early June through early August
• Price: $400.00 per week; $50.00 sibling discount for additional siblings; $25.00 late fee after 2:15 pm; no daily registration
Key Biscayne Aquatic Camp is in its twelfth year. The Camp Director is David E. Patlan, also known as Coach, who has been the director for ten years. He works at Key Biscayne K-8 Center as the middle school PE coach and uses his water skills to guide and instruct public and private clients in kayaking and kayak fishing in fresh and saltwater, paddle boarding, canoeing, snorkeling, and surfing. The camp’s mission states that it encourages every camper to explore what lies beyond the water’s edge through hands-on water activities, with a focus on water safety, building confidence, lifetime water skills, and a “respect and protect” ocean attitude. The program promotes learning what it means to be a steward of Biscayne Bay and its surrounding waters and uses the motto “RESPECT AND PROTECT” the ocean environment.
A parent testimonial from June 15, 2014, reports that two sons learned water rescue skills at the camp that they later used when a canoe tipped over on a family camping trip, helping them gather belongings and get back to shore without panicking.
