Camp Weed Summer Camp takes place at Camp Weed & Cerveny Conference Center and uses facilities such as Mandi’s Chapel, the Ravine building, the Varn Dining Hall, and the Snell/McCarty Youth Pavilion. The mission of Camp Weed Summer Camp is to be a Christ-centered place set apart for natural solitude, enabling worship, renewal, educational enrichment, recreation, and community for all the people of God. The site includes Mandi’s Chapel, a worship facility where many weddings are held, and the Varn Dining Hall, which seats 300. The Snell/McCarty Youth Pavilion provides a gymnasium and meeting space year-round with a capacity of 500, and the Cerveny Conference Center and Ravine building offer guest rooms and conference space.
The first summer camp in the Diocese was held near St. Augustine Beach in June 1924. Property near Live Oak was selected in 1978, and a 500-acre site on White Lake was purchased. The first permanent facilities were built in 1981, Mandi’s Chapel was dedicated in 1995, the Ravine building and Varn Dining Hall opened in 2004, and the Snell/McCarty Youth Pavilion was dedicated in 2006. On April 18, 2012, the AIA’s Florida Chapter ranked Mandi’s Chapel second on its list of Florida Architecture: 100 Years. 100 Places. Camp Weed & Cerveny Conference Center is available to faith communities, nonprofits, community groups, schools, and government agencies.
