Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches Summer Camp serves children ages 10 to 15. Campers live among their peers and take part in canoeing, archery, high ropes, challenge courses, and arts and crafts. They also learn the 4 R’s: Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Authority, and Respect the Environment.

About the provider

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches was founded in 1957, and the summer camping program started in 1981. The program has expanded to three overnight campuses and a mobile camping program called Harmony in the Streets. The organization says its mission is to prevent delinquency and develop resilient, productive, and law-abiding citizens, and it is credited with helping more than 190,000 children and families in Florida. Its summer camping program is nationally recognized, and Deputy Sheriffs and other Law Enforcement Volunteers are involved with the youngsters.

Campers live among their peers, learning how to share and function properly within a group setting. Activities include canoeing, archery, high ropes, challenge courses and arts and crafts. Campers learn the 4 R’s: Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Authority, and Respect the Environment.
