About
MCT Children's Summer Theatre Program is a six week Summer Theatre Camp where children take part in a children's summer theatre program connected to main-stage plays and musicals. The program is part of a theatre that also offers fine art exhibitions in a gallery, weekly dance classes for current theatre members, annual holiday events, fundraisers and variety shows, gallery and main-stage readings, guest performances and concerts, an annual community dance showcase, and cinema with digital films and sound. Main-stage plays and musicals generally start at 8pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and at 3pm on Sunday matinees, with the Box Office, Doors, and Concessions opening 1½ hours before the listed showtime.

Marathon Community Theatre, which runs the MCT Children's Summer Theatre Program, began in 1944 as a traveling troupe called the Marathon Little Theatre and has operated and developed its venue and programs over the past 80 years. Its mission is to produce engaging, inspiring, high quality theatrical productions for a diverse community, train and support the next generation of theatre artists, provide arts education programs that promote life-long learning, and celebrate the power of the arts to illuminate common humanity. The organization is operated by a fully volunteer Board of Directors with a small paid staff, and all members on-stage and behind-the-scenes are volunteers. The leadership team includes President Linda Schaefer, Vice President of Production Alex Rickert, Executive Vice President Paige Kurtz, Treasurer Jennifer Davis, Secretary Dale Coburn, and Board Members Abbi Colella, John Hunt, George Lancaster, Kim Momaly, Josh Mothner, Sean Sayer, and Phil Vachon. Marathon Community Theatre is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization and is described as the only community theatre in Monroe County, housing the only theatre and cinema within a 50 mile radius, with membership ranging from tweens to older adults and described as an eclectic blend of loveable misfits bringing their outstanding talent.
