Pigeon Key Marine Science Summer Camps are described as award-winning marine science summer camps on a private island, with hands-on experiences and a live webcam showing the island’s views and clear water. The program is led in part by Education Coordinator Arianna (Ari) Binienda. Pigeon Key and Marine Science Center was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990 and was established as a non-profit organization in 1992. Southern Living has named Pigeon Key one of the best and top things to do in the Florida Keys. One visitor described a beautiful train ride over the old 7 Mile Bridge with an educational tour, feeding sharks in the shark pool, and getting in the water as a unique experience. Another visitor described walking across the bridge to Pigeon Key, noting that they saw dolphins and a turtle along the way.
