Launch Learning is a non-profit preschool and a legacy of the EFSC Lab School program. The facility is described as brand new and includes a specialized Sensory Room and a “Fun Trail” for age-appropriate movement experiences that integrate large and small motor skills. The program uses a developmentally appropriate, play-based approach for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, with a balanced mix of purposeful play and guided education. It follows a brain-based curriculum that supports physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development through intentional play-based activities in the classroom and in nature, including daily activities in the Sensory Room and a sensory-infused curriculum.
Launch Learning operates within a whole family framework, offering programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years old and monthly parent education classes. Parent/Child Programs for infants and toddlers require a parent, caregiver, or grandparent to attend with the child. Drop-off Playschool and Preschool Programs include a monthly family participation requirement of three hours, and the Parent Connect meeting fulfills this full three-hour requirement even though it lasts 1.5 hours. Parent Connect classes are included with registration for any Launch Learning class and offer workshops, coaching, and education for parents, with a platform to learn about age-specific developmental topics from highly trained staff.
The curriculum includes Conscious Discipline, the High/Scope approach, Montessori techniques, Handwriting Without Tears, Heggerty, and the Secret Stories phonics program. The school places strong emphasis on Social-Emotional Learning as the heartbeat of the school community, and teachers coach children through real-time challenges to build emotional resilience and social confidence. Enrichment activities include early foreign language, martial arts, nature awareness and exploration, cooking, dance, and community outreach, and the program maintains a STEM focus with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math activities throughout the curriculum. Nature-based creative play features open-ended, hands-on outdoor exploration, and the program also maintains a focus on healthy snacks.
Launch Learning describes itself as a family centered school that creatively educates young children and coaches families through a balanced curriculum, leading to a healthy, connected community. The program’s community involvement includes helping build confident, connected families who contribute to the life and vitality of their community, and it is described as a gift to the community that aims to raise happy, healthy humans who positively impact the community.
Parent testimonials describe Launch Learning as a place where toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-K children enjoy attending, with activities that address speech, gross motor skills, social skills, problem solving, music, and stories. Parents report that the program includes parent attendance with younger infants and toddlers, strong teacher–parent partnership and communication, use of Conscious Discipline, a STEM focus, organized classrooms and outdoor activities, a sensory room, parent classes, and a focus on healthy snacks. Families also note that the facilities are brand new, that the school offers valuable training sessions for parents, and that the staff are described as caring, knowledgeable about child development and behavior, and invested in parenting beyond the school building.
