Launch Learning is a non-profit preschool and a legacy of the EFSC Lab School program. The program describes itself as a family centered school that creatively educates young children and coaches families through a balanced curriculum, leading to a healthy, connected community. It uses a brain-based curriculum that supports physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development, with a strong focus on Social-Emotional Learning as the heartbeat of the school community.

Launch Learning includes developmentally appropriate, play-based programming for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and incorporates elements of the High/Scope play-based early childhood program and Montessori techniques. The curriculum also includes Conscious Discipline as a brain-based social-emotional and discipline approach, the Handwriting Without Tears multisensory writing program, the Heggerty early literacy approach, and the Secret Stories phonics program. S.T.E.M. activities permeate the curriculum, and nature-based creative play and outdoor exploration are part of the experience.

Parent/Child Programs are offered where a parent, caregiver, or grandparent attends with infant and toddler children. Parent Connect classes cover age-specific developmental topics from highly trained staff, are included with registration for any Launch Learning class, and the monthly Parent Connect meeting fulfills participation requirements for families in drop-off programs. The facility is described as brand new and includes a specialized Sensory Room and a “Fun Trail” that provides research-based, age-appropriate movement experiences, along with a sensory rich environment with intentional play-based activities.

Community outreach is listed as an enrichment activity, and Launch Learning is described as helping build confident, connected families who contribute to the life and vitality of their community and as aiming to raise happy, healthy humans who positively impact the community. One parent notes that the program includes activities that address speech, gross motor, social skills, problem solving, music, and stories, and that attending with their toddler gives them ideas for activities to do at home. Another parent highlights the use of Conscious Discipline, the STEM focus, the sensory room, the parent classes, and the focus on healthy snacks, and describes the facility as brand new and connected to Brevard County’s former Lab School. Additional parent feedback describes noticeable changes in a child’s behavior and emotional IQ after attending pre-K at Launch Learning, values the training sessions for parents, and emphasizes that the director and staff are described as excellent. A mental health professional who is a parent describes Launch Learning as a gift to the community, notes the emphasis on social-emotional learning and the staff’s investment and knowledge about child development and behavior, and reports strong confidence and comfort in the staff.
