MiND Summer Theater Intensive includes work in clown techniques, Commedia dell’Arte, improv, and musical theater. The program offers two themed sessions: The Laugh Lab, where students explore clown techniques, Commedia dell’Arte, and improv in a playful and dynamic environment, and A Musical Theater Journey, which focuses on musical theater tailored specifically for young artists.

Miami New Drama, which runs MiND Summer Theater Intensive, is a nonprofit professional theater company committed to artistic excellence and groundbreaking work unique to its diverse and extraordinary region. Its mission states that it believes in the transformative power of theater as a tool for change, empathy, reflection, and exploration, and that it makes theater that is always in conversation with its multicultural and multilingual community and relevant to national discourse for social change. Miami New Drama has been the resident company at the historic Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road since 2016 and was founded by playwright and director Michel Hausmann and National Medal of the Arts winner Moises Kaufman. The organization’s credentials include multiple awards and recognitions, such as leading participating theaters with 24 Carbonell Award nominations in 2022, Miami New Times Best Theater Company (2022), a Drama League Award in 2021 for “7 Deadly Sins” (Outstanding Interactive or Socially-Distanced Theater), Miami New Times Best Theater for Drama (2018), Knight Arts Challenge Awards from the Knight Foundation (2017 and 2018), and a Knight New Works Miami Award (2018), as well as membership in the South Florida Theatre League, Theater Communications Group, and The Drama League.
