About
305 Sports Basketball Academy offers basketball practice, clinics, summer camps, training, and league play. The program also includes an All-Star game, a Parents vs. Coaches game, and games where players compete Park vs. Park. Participants take part in special events such as a 305 Sports Night event at the Miami Heat Arena and the 305 Sports Annual Toy Drive.
• Schedule: Program hours run Monday through Friday from 8am–9pm.
Over the past 10+ years, 305 Sports Basketball Academy has coached and mentored well over 20,000 kids of all levels. The academy is run by qualified, paid coaches rather than volunteer parents, and its leadership team includes Coach Laz, Coach Morris, Coach Mario, and Coach Misael. Its mission states a passion to inspire and influence others to succeed, to use sports to help kids build life skills they will not learn in school, and to build character and prepare them for the real world outside the basketball court. The academy describes itself as the largest recreational basketball academy in South Florida and as an industry leader and serious basketball program, and it invites families to book or try a free practice session.
305 Sports Basketball Academy organizes a 305 Sports Annual Toy Drive, where toys are collected as a team and donated to different organizations. In 2020, it created 305 Sports in Venezuela, which has provided uniforms, basketball equipment, and training for hundreds of extremely low income kids, led by Coach Morris, under the phrase “Building The Community one Child at a time.” On November 3, 2016, Coach Laz received a recognition award from Commissioner Jose Pepe Diaz for his work in the community over the prior three years.
Parent testimonials describe long-term involvement with the academy, positive experiences with the coaching staff, and enjoyment of the summer camp. Parents also report that coaches care about each player’s progress, that the environment is organized, and that kids have fun while improving their game. One parent notes that 305 Sports teaches both the technical aspect of basketball and life lessons, and mentions that a child’s grades and classroom focus improved while attending 305 Sports Basketball Academy.
