About

Village Montessori offers hands-on exploration, self-directed learning, and purposeful daily activities in Montessori classrooms. Children engage in exploring the world through movement, touch, sound, color, texture, and form, along with listening, conversation, songs, and storytelling. The program also includes reading, writing, self-expression, research, and concrete exploration of patterns, order, quantity, and sequence, and families can tour the classrooms and meet the guides, with enrichment activities that can be added individually to the program.

• Ages: 0–9 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday with extended hours from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, including a full three-hour uninterrupted work cycle

Since 2008, Village Montessori has provided an authentic Montessori education and, for more than eighteen years, has built and refined a true Montessori learning environment. The program follows a Montessori curriculum organized into Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies, with a prepared environment centered on uninterrupted work cycles and led by certified Montessori guides. Every lead guide holds a recognized AMS or AMI Montessori credential specific to their level, and the founder and director, Joan Rodriguez-Malone, holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, along with multiple Montessori certifications including Primary, Infant & Toddler, and Assistant to Infancy. Village Montessori includes an Infant “Nido” Program for ages 3 to 16 months that runs year round with no teacher planning days, spring break, or summer break; a Toddler Program for ages 16 to 36 months with bilingual or Spanish immersion; a Primary Preschool and Kindergarten Program for ages 3 to 6 years that accepts Step Up for Students and allows enrichment activities to be added individually; and a Lower Elementary Program for ages 7 to 9 years with an individualized curriculum. It is the first Montessori bilingual and Spanish immersion program created in Miami, and the school describes itself as a community where families connect, friendships grow, and children thrive together, where authentic Montessori is a daily practice. Mrs. Rodriguez-Malone is a founding member of the Montessori Florida Coalition and has served as Treasurer of its Board of Directors since 2014.

The mission of Village Montessori states that everything the school does is education, with every detail of its programs designed with the purpose of nurturing independence, confidence, and curiosity while supporting the whole child and honoring physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual growth. The mission further states that the school provides an authentic Montessori education in a safe, joyful, and carefully prepared environment, where classrooms encourage children to explore independently, collaborate respectfully, and engage deeply with meaningful work. According to the mission, children experience hands-on learning and individualized guidance, and the school honors each child’s unique pace of development while using the Montessori method to build academic, social, and emotional foundations, in partnership with parents through guidance and support.

One parent testimonial states, “Cannot recommend this school enough. My children have been here for 3 years; this school, the instructors, and staff are truly extraordinary. The teachers actually care for their students and are far more than just preschool teachers; they are like family and TRULY want the children to excel in life. Absolutely awesome school!” This same testimonial is also attributed to Gretchen E.
